Ident.ink is retiring development sprints. Future product releases will follow a steadier weekly or fortnightly rhythm, with urgent security, legal, reliability and event-driven work handled when it is needed.
I am not returning to the constant development cycle today, but there is one important change I need to explain.
As of 26 August 2026, Ident.ink will no longer run development sprints. We have the core platform and direction we wanted to establish, and repeatedly compressing large amounts of work into intense release periods is no longer the right way to operate it.
What replaces development sprints
From now on, normal product work will be grouped into weekly or fortnightly updates. The exact interval will depend on the size of the work and whether it has been properly tested. This is a release rhythm, not a promise to manufacture an update every seven days when there is nothing worthwhile to ship.
The aim is simple: fewer disruptive bursts, clearer release notes, more time for testing, and a platform that stays familiar long enough for people to use what has already been built.
What can still ship immediately
Security fixes, reliability work, legal or compliance changes, provider changes and urgent customer-impacting repairs will not be held back for a calendar date. An important event, launch or time-sensitive opportunity may also justify a separate update.
What this means for Ident.ink
Ident.ink remains active and available. Ident Group Ltd continues operating, and support, billing, security handling and essential maintenance continue as normal. This announcement changes how product development is scheduled. It does not close a service, remove existing access or end the company’s work.
The next phase is about operating Ident.ink with more discipline: release less noisily, explain changes properly, and make each update earn its place.
